At Fetch we are proud to declare our facility ‘Force Free’. This means that at no time will dogs on our facility be subjected to any methods involving pain, physical force or fear.
This facility-wide promise goes beyond traditional dog training and into every facet of our care. From the way our handlers control the behaviour of your dogs in the daycare to the way we approach a nail clip, avoidance of stressful, outdated and aversive methods is at the heart of everything we do.
HOW DO WE MANAGE YOUR DOGS UNWANTED BEHAVIOUR
As proud members of the Pet Professional Guild (PPG), International boarding & Pet Services Association (IBPSA), and International Society of Animal Professionals (ISAP), Fetch members adhere to a strict set of guidelines which govern our practice at all times. When managing unwanted behaviour, Fetch staff use only up to date, science-based methods.
Our chosen method in any situation is always the least aversive (stressful) method possible for that situation required to adequately maintain our animas comfort and safety.
Will Force Free methods keep my pet safe in the event of an emergency?
Force Free methods will not interfere with our ability to ensure your dogs safety in an emergency situation. Furthermore, force free methods have been found in many cases to more adequately prevent incidents before they occur.
Should an unlikely emergency occur where immediate and firm action is required (such as a serious dog fight) our policy is to employ the least aversive strategy appropriate to manage that particular situation with our dogs welfare and safety as the top priority at all times.
Whilst we do not endorse ‘corrective’ noise aversion or unnecessary physical management of dogs for ‘disciplinary’ or ‘dominance’ purposes, our staff have been trained to disable dog fights using noise and physical intervention as absolutely necessary.
